- Richard II was king only by name but his uncle John had actual power
- This is because he was too young
- He was only ten
- Peasants were going to create an army in order to gain higher wages for their labor
- There was a massive rebellion
- June 12, 1381 an army of 10,000 gathered on a hill that overlooked the city
- They set palaces on fire and decapitated people on the spot
- June 13, 1381, Richard saw London crumbling with flame
- He met with the rebels and negotiated with them
- The rebels wished for a new Magna Carta
- Richard said to the rebels, "You shall have no captain but me."
- Richard was very different from the other kings of England
- They asked Richard to resign from the throne and he eventually gave in
